2023 YOUTH ART SHOWCASE

Enter up to 2 original submissions, 2D or 3D. Open to artists 6 -17 years living within a 40-mile radius of Orange City. No entry fee. Submission details & timeline are below. Awards will be given for Best of Show & Honorable Mention in each age category.

THE EXHIBITION

Orange City Arts Youth Art Showcase offers an opportunity for young artists to exhibit their work August 14- 23, 2023, at the Stadscentrum Building in downtown Orange City IA. Local artists between the ages of 6 to 17 years old, residing within a 40-mile radius of Orange City, IA are invited to submit work to the juried exhibition. The exhibition will also be available to view online at orangecityarts.org. Prizes will be awarded to Best in Show and Honorable Mention in each age category.

ELIGIBILITY & MEDIA

  • This is a JURIED SHOW.
  • Entrants are age 6 -17 years and and reside in Orange City, Iowa or within a 40-mile radius of Orange City, Iowa. Parents, guardians or teachers may submit on behalf of the youth artist.
  • Enter any art that can have a still digital image taken of it (painting, sculpture, drawing, collage, pottery etc.) Photos or digital manipulated artwork will not be accepted.
  • Entrants are limited to TWO entries.
  • 2D entries may not exceed 38 in wide x 60 in high in size. 3D entries may not exceed 36 in wide x 36 in high. The sponsor reserves the right to make exceptions to accommodate the display space.
  • Artwork must be original created by the artist, copyrighted material such as Disney, Pixar, celebrities pictures, coloring book pages etc. will NOT be accepted.
  • Submit digital images only for jurying purposes.
  • Submit images online via the submission page. DO NOT MAIL or drop off forms or original artwork to Orange City Arts. 
  • Submissions must be quality jpg, gif, png or pdf images – 200 dpi and no larger than 4 MB.
  • The image must be a true representation of the work submitted. Orange City Arts reserves the right to reject work accepted which does not conform to the quality represented by the submission.
  • The exhibition will not display any selected piece that arrives at the venue without proper hanging hardware.
  • Any submission that is considered by Orange City Arts, at its sole and absolute discretion, to be objectionable, in whole or in part, will be disqualified and will not be eligible for entry.
  • Under "Description," include title, medium used and size.
  • Artists may not substitute or remove artwork accepted into the show prior to the show closing. All accepted artwork must be present and on display to be considered for prizes.

Limited to 2 entries per artist. Sets, e.g., diptych, may be classified as one entry. 2D entries may not exceed 38 in wide x 60 in high in size. 3D entries may not exceed 36 in wide x 36 in high. The sponsor reserves the right to make exceptions to accommodate the display space. There is no entry fee.

A COMPLETED ENTRY CONSISTS OF THE FOLLOWING:

1. jpg or png image.

2. Artist's name, address, email, phone number, & title of work.

3. Under "Description," include medium, size, date of production, & purchase price or NFS.

SUBMIT ENTRY MATERIALS online. DO NOT MAIL or drop off entry forms or artwork to Orange City Arts.

If you have trouble submitting online, please email info@orangecityarts.net. Include jpg, gif, png or pdf attachments of each entry, filenames formatted: "Artist Last Name - Title of Piece." Include the artwork medium, title, size dimensions, purchase price or NFS, and artist contact information (include parent contact info).

NOTIFICATION

Artists will be notified of acceptance into the show by email by August 9. Further details on delivery and pick up of accepted artwork will also be given at that time. We will not be accepting or returning artwork through any shipping method unless prearranged. 

JURORS' CHOICES & PRIZES

Jurors will select a "Best of Show" with an approximate prize value of $50 and "Honorable Mention" $25 prize value, for each age category. Age categories as follows: Ages 6-9, Ages 10-14, Ages 15-17

AWARDS ANNOUNCEMENT

Awards will be announced at Arts on Central, August 23 at the Stadscentrum Building at 6:00 p.m. All artists and their families are invited to attend. Any winners not present will be notified by email and make arrangements to pick up their prize.

Additional information regarding show procedures will be sent to artists accepted into the show.
